Who we are
Throwing down the gauntlet.
One of the oldest and most celebrated tailgate crews at the University of Utah, best known for mixing up the best pre-game food in the state.
“Well, you’ve never won the tailgate cooking competitions.”
You’d be right. We designed the competition and wrote the rules (literally) for the Crimson Club. Wouldn’t really be fair for us to win every year. We just love that it raised the food game on campus, and we enjoy seeing what the contestants come up with.
The pig that started it all
We came up with the annual pre-season good-luck pig roast for the Utah football team with Urban Meyer, and roasted the very first pig in his backyard while sitting around his pool. We’ve served up our annual pre-season pig roast every year since.
Visiting fans are in awe of the tailgating community here, and we love giving them a welcoming, collegiate place to enjoy their visit. Proud of the spirit we helped build. Can’t wait to watch it grow.
Next home tailgate
Utah vs Houston
Sat, Oct 24 · Kickoff time TBA · Rice-Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City
Visiting fans welcome · Guardsman lot
Where to find us
527 Guardsman Way, Salt Lake City. Look for the red bus with the pig on the side and a crowd around the roaster. Kickoff time is still TBA, so tailgate times are not set yet. Once Utah Athletics announces it, the bus opens 7 hours before kickoff.
21+ to drink · Alcohol is never sold · Never drink and drive · Upper deck by crew permission only
The scrapbook / Chapter one
More than a bus.
It’s our people.
Utah is 5–0 and the roaster has been lit every home Saturday. The best part of the Pig Bus was never the old Bluebird or even the pig. It is the people who show up, the friends made over 23 seasons, and the visiting fans who leave with a plate.
“Win or lose, we’re going to cook, eat, and drink and do it again the next weekend.”
— The Pig Bus creed
From a backyard to a bus
2004 → 2026
A pig roast in Urban Meyer’s backyard in 2004, with no bus in sight. Friends had already been tailgating since 1999. Then a used school bus in 2005, the Kyle Whittingham years, and now the Morgan Scalley era. Told by the people who were actually standing there.
Actual memories, never stock photography
A real photo yearbook
Every picture on this site came out of the crew’s own camera roll. No stock art, no invented tailgates, no AI crowds. If it is on here, somebody was there.
