The Utah Pig Bus is a customized vehicle and tailgate gathering space. Entry, steps, stairs, narrow passages, raised surfaces, rails, elevated platforms, and equipment can create risks of slips, falls, collisions, and injury. Access to any area is permitted only when it is safe and approved by authorized crew and applicable authorities.
Stairway rules
- Use handrails and pay attention to every step.
- Walk; never run, jump, push, or roughhouse.
- Keep steps, exits, and access routes clear.
- Do not carry objects or drinks that interfere with safe movement.
- Do not sit or gather on stairs.
- Do not climb when balance, coordination, or judgment is impaired.
- Parents/guardians must closely supervise children; crew may restrict their access.
Upper deck rules
- Crew permission is required.
- Honor posted occupancy limits and access restrictions.
- Remain inside designated guest areas and behind protective barriers.
- Never sit, stand, climb, or lean on guardrails.
- Never jump, throw objects, rush, or engage in horseplay.
- Dancing, performances, or other high-movement activities require specific crew approval in a designated safe area.
- Deck access closes immediately when directed by authorized crew.
Weather
The upper deck may close for rain, snow, ice, lightning, wind, or any condition making access unsafe.
Vehicle movement
All guests must leave the deck, exterior platforms, and stairs before any vehicle movement. No one may ride on the roof, external stairs, or external platforms while the bus is moving.
Not a transportation service
The Pig Bus is a tailgate attraction and vehicle, not an advertised passenger shuttle or public transport service. Any permitted passengers and vehicle operations must follow applicable transportation and safety rules.
Crew directions
Anyone declining safety instructions may be refused access or asked to leave.
Important
A visitor’s agreement to assume some ordinary risks does not replace safe design, safe operations, lawful occupancy, fire protection, or any applicable inspection requirements.
One pig on the roof is plenty. Don’t become the second.
The Utah Pig Bus is an independently organized alumni tailgate tradition. It is not owned, operated, sponsored, endorsed, or officially affiliated with the University of Utah, Utah Athletics, the Crimson Club, or Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
