Alcohol & Responsible Drinking

We share the good times. We don’t sell the booze.

The Utah Pig Bus is a tailgate crew, not a bar, tavern, nightclub, or alcohol retailer. At activities where it is legally permitted to do so, alcoholic beverages may be made available without charge. We do not sell alcohol per drink or serving. No donation, admission price, tip, merchandise purchase, or other consideration is accepted as an exchange for alcohol.

Rules

  1. You must be 21 or older to consume alcohol. Valid proof of age may be required.
  2. No alcoholic beverages will knowingly be provided to anyone under 21.
  3. No alcoholic beverages will be provided to visibly intoxicated people or anyone otherwise legally ineligible to receive them.
  4. Never drink and drive. Plan a designated driver, rideshare, or other safe trip.
  5. No drinking contests, excessive consumption games, or pressure to drink.
  6. Guests who abstain from alcohol are welcome.
  7. Guest-brought beverages are subject to applicable laws, venue rules, and crew approval.
  8. Do not carry alcohol out of authorized areas where restricted.
  9. Authorized crew may limit availability, refuse service, restrict access, or ask anyone engaging in unsafe or unlawful conduct to leave.
  10. No type or quantity of alcohol is guaranteed.

Bus-specific safety

Intoxication does not excuse unsafe behavior. People whose balance, coordination, or judgment is impaired may be refused stair, bus, or elevated-deck access. Alcohol aboard the vehicle, especially while it is being used for transportation, is subject to applicable law and vehicle rules.

Free is not the same as unrestricted

Providing alcohol at no charge does not automatically exempt the event or its organizers from alcohol permitting, furnishing, liability, or sponsorship rules. Event operations must comply with applicable Utah law and property requirements.

Good tailgating should never end with a bad ride home.

The Utah Pig Bus is an independently organized alumni tailgate tradition. It is not owned, operated, sponsored, endorsed, or officially affiliated with the University of Utah, Utah Athletics, the Crimson Club, or Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
